Old boy Jacko came to us due to his previous owner sadly passing away. It has taken him a little while to adjust and get to know us but these days he is a lot happier and pleased to see us.

Medical - Jacko, unfortunately, does come with some medical issues, including chronic atopic dermatitis, he is on Apoquel and medicated baths to help this, he also has hip/joint issues (all will be explained by staff) which would normally be sorted with a hip replacement but due to age-related risks he will not be able to have this done, so he will need daily pain relief and limited physical exercise. He has also had entropion (eyelids rolled in) in both eyes which have been corrected.

People & Personality - The best way to describe Jacko is strong-willed, he very much does what he wants to do, and he will do everything he can to get his own way. He loves to be outdoors and explore which seems to be his favourite thing to do but he wants to go where he wants, or he will put his stubborn pants on. Truthfully speaking, he can be a little unsure at first by new people, but it doesn’t take him too long to come around, once a connection is made he becomes a little character that most people end up falling in love with, as he is cheeky and always means well.

Training & Exercise - This little man doesn’t have formal obedience training, but we do know he is very clean in his kennel and will hold until he goes for his regular toilet breaks, so it’s likely he is fully house-trained. He will try to get into everything, including your bins, so he will keep you on your toes in that way. He could use some training to make him a little more well-rounded but also to mentally give him some enrichment as due to his hips he cannot do a vast amount of physical exercise.

Other Animals - Jacko has met a variety of other dogs while being with us, there have been a few that once excitement is out the way and a quick greeting, he has just gone off and done his own thing but there was one female bulldog he was very pushy with, not in a boisterous way just in the sense of he was not leaving her alone and got a bit rude with the over sniffing. We do feel that Jacko could live with another well-socialised dog that isn’t too playful, providing a successful dog mix.

Owner Experience - Jacko needs someone who has some canine knowledge, patient, and understanding, and who is willing to keep up with his medical needs.

Overall - Jacko is a fun character to have around, he has many friends here but now it’s time to find his forever family. If you have a strong mind like Jacko, then he might be the one for you.

Jacko will require a minimum of two visits from the entire household ahead of the adoption process.

The adoption fee for Jacko is £200
